The purpose of this site is to educate students of Alaska History on the natives of Controller Bay, the boom town of Katalla (Catalla), the Katalla oilfield,the Bering River coalfields and the railroads built around Controller Bay and Katalla Bay. Also included in this list are the towns of Goose City, Redwood, Kayak, Stillwater, and Chilkat.

A second reason is to gather new information and documentation for possible publication.
